Queer Socials at the Rising Sun - a place for queer people to hang and have a drink! These 18+ and free events are the perfect nights to be part of the LGBTQ+ Reading community. They are happening each first Friday of the month and our group of volunteers organise original activities for each event.
On Friday 1st August, we are having a clothing swap!
Join us for a queer clothing swap. Bring some clothes & swap, take some clothes, take no clothes, leave some clothes, leave no clothes—it is up to you! There is no minimum or maximum.
We want everyone in Reading’s queer community to find clothing that fits and expresses their individuality and affirm their identity in a way that is affordable (free to you), accessible (size-, gender-, and aesthetics-inclusive), and sustainable (minimising clothing waste).
We are operating the swap on a give as you wish to receive basis, which means that if you are bringing clothing to swap, please ensure they are clean and in good condition.
We will have a range of clothing from sizes 8 to 24. There will also be some light snacks, music, and friendly volunteers available. As this is a Reading Queer Social event at the Rising Sun Arts Centre, the bar will be open.
The Queer Clothing Swap event is free to attend but please book your ticket in advance to help our volunteer organisers run the event!
If you have any questions or want to provide details about the clothes you will bring to swap, you can email us at rsacqueersocial@gmail.com
This is an 18+ event. Please bring ID as everyone will be checked on the door and bar.
All genders, expressions, sexualities are welcome
Please don’t assume people’s pronouns or gender.
Respect everyone’s personal space - this includes volunteers, staff, audience members and performers!
Zero tolerance for harassment/discrimination. No transphobia, homophobia, racism, islamophobia, body shaming, slut shaming, fatphobia, sexism, ableism.
