Rising Sun supports MERL’s grand re-opening.

The Museum Of English Rural Life recently re-opened its doors this weekend – and the Rising Sun Arts Centre was able to contribute to a new display.

Sew Engaging was a community sewing project that reached out to local groups during the Museum’s redevelopment, inviting them to up-cycle unfinished needlepoint ‘tapestry’ kits with their own designs. Our very own Move-Up Project answered the call – you can read a little about that here – and their finished tapestry now hangs proudly in the museum, as you can see in our photo.

A number of us from the centre were fortunate enough to go along to the grand re-opening on Saturday and we all loved what they’d done with the place. If you’re at all interested in the historical and contemporary relevance of country life, why not pop along and discover their new interactive, immersive galleries which explore questions of identity, environment, technology, culture and health.

Hi Everyone

It really annoys me how people nowadays are always moaning on about how things were better in the old days.  Nobody ever complained in my day... hang on....
